Toby needs a home....

Toby Airedale, 14mths

Toby is a fabulous young Airedale looking for an experienced and committed home.

Airedale are not for the faint hearted, experience of larger working breeds is a must.

Toby needs to be an only dog in an adult only home.

Airedale are the largest of all terrier size wise and have the personality to match. Toby very much lives up to the 'King Terrier' title that they are known by. He is such a huge and wonderful personality.

Toby is typical of his breed, a very energetic, curious and fun loving dog. Very much a giant puppy behaviour wise, into everything, independent, confident and sometimes a little stubborn. He needs a home with knowledge and experience of the breed and that has the time and energy to dedicate to ongoing training and socialisation. Toby has not been well socialised with other dogs previously and can be a little reactive at times...barking and becoming over excited in their presence. That being said he is very young and has all of the potential to improve in the right environment with lots of positive input and reinforcement. A knowledgeable home prepared to put the effort in and provide consistent training and boundaries will end up with such a wonderful dog and companion.

Toby does need to be an only dog. He previously lived and fought with another male of the same age.

His exuberance is such that it very much makes up for this. He has a zest for life and is such a characterful and joyful force of nature.

Toby needs a home with someone around most all of the time. Again typical of his breed a loyal and loving dog that likes to be involved and close to his family. He doesn't like being away from his people but is crate trained and will settle in his crate so long as his needs have been met.

Toby is a bit of a thief and likes to steal and run off with household items he shouldn't have. He will happily trade for a small treat or toy and is easy to manage. Occasionally he will chew and eat any found treasure and so any new home does need to be aware and keep him safe.

Toby travels ok . Currently sleeps in his crate at night. Walks reasonably well on lead. He needs to be on lead unless in a secure private area.

Health wise he is a fit and healthy youngster but for his ears. He has had reoccurring waxy/yeast build up and infection in the past which does need monitoring. We are currently trailing a raw elimination diet to see if this makes any difference. Our rescue vet did say he has particularly narrow ear canals. This can all be discussed in more detail with any serious potential applicant.

Overall Toby is an absolutely gorgeous and huge character. Full of fun, mischief and love. An absolutely adorable boy to have around. If you have experience, time to dedicate and can provide both the loving home and consistent training/input required please do get in touch.
